Our local takeaways are the heartbeat of our high streets. From incredible Indians to perfect pizzerias, every town has their heroes and every individual has their favourite. So, here at the British Takeaway Awards, for the fourth year running, we’re rewarding the dedication of local takeaways across a multitude of cuisines, recognising their contribution to our economy on a truly national scale. Held at London’s Savoy hotel on the 12 November, we’re saying thank you to the unsung heroes, the hardworking people behind the great takeaway places that we love to lay claim to.
As an industry worth over £9 billion to the UK economy, takeaways have been an integral part of our culture for decades – it’s time to recognise their contribution…

James Hacon is an investor, advisor and respected thought leader in the restaurant and hospitality sector. His experience stretches working with more than 50 brands in 14 countries, from Michelin starred outlets to International hotel chains, casual dining groups to start-up takeaway concepts.
After working for some of the most successful high street restaurants, including Pizza Express and Planet Hollywood, Sarah bought the The Bombay Bicycle Club and turned it into the largest Indian restaurant chain in the UK. Her success earned her a place on BBC’s Dragons’ Den. Sarah’s favourite takeaway is Indian.
Graham Corfield has been the UK Managing Director of Just Eat, a leading global marketplace for online food delivery, since 2013 and has been a member of the Just Eat executive team since the beginning of 2017.
Graham is responsible for running the UK business and driving its continued growth. In 2017, the platform connected over 10 million UK customers with more than 28,000 Restaurant Partners in the UK, serving over 100 different cuisine types. Just Eat’s vision is to create the world’s greatest food community.
In his role as Chairman of the British Takeaway Campaign, Ibrahim campaigns on behalf of the takeaway sector – promoting opportunities for young people to build successful careers in the sector, whilst ensuring the takeaway sector retains fair access to the skills of EU and Non EU migrants.
He has also played a pivotal role in campaigning for an overhaul of the current business rates system. Ibrahim established the British Kebab Awards and runs several businesses including three independent restaurants in London. Ibrahim’s favourite takeaway is kebab.
